2012 ASCA Nationals Entry Information Entries Open August 1, 2012 and Close September 15, 2012 Entries must be on current official ASCA entry forms appropriate for the specific discipline and SIGNED IN SPACE PROVIDED. Blank entry forms are available for download at www.asca.org. Please include dog's call name and your email address, if available. Entries received without proper fees will not be accepted. No facsimile, telegraph, telephone, incomplete, email or computer entries will be accepted. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED THAT REQUIRE A SIGNATURE. IF YOU USE OVERNIGHT MAIL, YOU MUST WAIVE SIGNATURE. ACCEPTANCE IS DETERMINED ONLY BY POST MARKED DATE. For immediate confirmation of receipt, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard. Confirmation of receipt does not constitute an accepted entry. Acknowledgment of entries will be made after close of entries. Entry information will be used to create the 2012 National Catalog; please make sure entries are legible and correct. A COPY OF ASCA REGISTRATION PAPERS MUST ACCOMPANY ALL ENTRIES FOR DOGS OVER 6 MONTHS OF AGE. The age will be calculated as of November 2, 2012. Please ensure you have proof of rabies vaccination with you! Entrants are responsible for errors on entry forms and no entry fee will be refunded in the event of such errors. No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a veterinarian or judge, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee. If, because of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry fees will be made. A COPY OF THE TRACKING ENTRY FORM AND CERTIFICATION MUST BE SENT TO THE TRACKING CHAIR. Make checks or money orders payable in U.S. funds to "CVASC." Foreign entries must be paid with funds drawn on a U.S. bank. DO NOT SEND CASH. Entries received without proper fee payment will not be accepted. 2012 ASCA Nationals Classes and Entry Fees
| Confirmation of Entries After close of entries, you will receive a confirmation of all classes entered for each dog. PLEASE READ YOUR CONFIRMATION AND CHECK IT FOR ACCURACY. CHANGES WILL NOT BE MADE AFTER Sept 30, 2012. Finals/MVA: Exhibitor must provide onsite contact phone number to Nationals Office upon check-in. Stockdog Finals See Chapter 12 of the Stock dog rules. The day of the trial, if there is a scratch and an alternate is used to replace the scratch, the alternate will have the same draw for run order. Five head of livestock will be used for each run. Sheep will be Hair Sheep, cattle will be beef type; ducks will be Welsh Harlequin, Bitches in heat will run in order.Elimination Round: Handlers meeting at 7:00 A.M., Day 1 - First Finals Go-Round, Ducks - Course B, Cattle Course B and Sheep-Course B. Second Finals Go-Round: To begin after a short lunch break or at the discretion of the Nationals Trial Committee, Ducks - Course B, Cattle Course A, Sheep Course A. Day 2 - Ducks - Course B, Cattle Course A, Sheep - Course A. Participation Rosettes and placement awards will be presented at completion of competition. The 2012 ASCA Stockdog Finals top ten placements will be recognized on Tuesday night at the Finals Reception. Agility Finals See Chapter 11 of the Agility Rule Book for Finals Rules Participation Rosettes and placement awards will be presented at completion of competition. The 2012 ASCA Agility Finals top ten placements will be presented on Tuesday night at the Finals Reception. Obedience Finals See Chapter 10 of the Obedience Rule Book for Finals Rules Participation Rosettes and placement awards will be presented at completion of competition. The 2012 ASCA Obedience Finals top ten placements will be presented on Tuesday night at the Finals Reception. Rally Finals See Chapter 12 of the Rally Rule Book for Finals Rules Participation Rosettes and placement awards will be presented at completion of competition. The 2012 ASCA Rally Finals top ten placements will be presented on Tuesday night at the Finals Reception. Conformation Finals Information See Chapter 15 of the Conformation Rule Book for Finals Rules Participation. Rosettes and placement awards will be presented at completion of competition. The 2012 ASCA Conformation Finals top ten placements will be presented on Tuesday night at the Finals Reception. Junior Handling Finals Only eligible Open Junior Handlers may enter. Novice-Level participants are not eligible. Use separate entry form. ASCA Junior Showmanship rules apply. A change of dogs must be made at least one hour prior to the judging of the class and be approved by the Junior Chairperson and at least one other Show Committee or applicable ASCA official. The "Keely Bryan Memorial Scholarship" is given for Finals Best Junior and Finals Reserve Junior. Best and Reserve Junior Handler will be recognized at the Finals Reception. National Most Versatile Australian Shepherd The Versatility Chairperson and MVA Show Committee are solely responsible for Versatility record-keeping from start to finish. The competition will be conducted using the rules in Chapter 1 of the MVA National Rules. Bitches in season will run at the end of each class (or as posted) with the same requirements as listed in the Agility/Obedience/Rally/Stock Finals. The 2012 Most Versatile Aussie award and participant ribbons will be presented on Saturday between BOB Dogs and Bitches. The "Joseph Hartnagle Memorial Award" and the "Jean and Bob Carrillo Memorial Award" will be given to the Most Versatile Aussie. Evaluations will be scheduled by time block in order to help us schedule around any possible conflicts Conflicts: If you have a conflict with events, conformation takes priority. Notify gate stewards first thing in the morning to get scheduling worked out. We will try to be accommodating, but we must know you have a conflict. National Most Versatile Junior This award is for the Junior Handler who has the highest combined scores in Junior Showmanship, working and the performance events. The dog must be owned or co-owned by the Junior or his/her immediate family and a co-owned dog must reside in the junior's home 75% of the year. The Most Versatile Junior competition will be conducted in accordance with Section 6 of the Junior Showmanship Program Rule Book. Please write a short story describing the Junior and his/her dog to be read at the MVJ awards ceremony. The "Sandy Tubbs Memorial Award" will be given for the Most Versatile Junior. The 2012 Most Versatile Junior award will be presented on Saturday between BOB Dogs and Bitches. National Agility Information Entry is on a first-serve basis by postmark date. The trial will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The trial will be judged by 3 judges, judging in three rings simultaneously, with a limit of 350 runs per judge per day (subject to increase per judge per day). Dogs jumping in the 20+" and the 24" classes will be scored together and class placements will be combined. Obstacles used during the trial are defined in the ASCA Agility Rule Book. Check-in, schedule and start times will be sent with confirmation of entry. Move-ups for the Nationals trial close one hour after the close of the Pre-Nationals trial. Weave poles and a jump will be provided for warm-up. There is adequate crating space available around the agility ring area for competing dogs. In order for the trial to run smoothly, we need helpers. Please consider volunteering and fill out the coupon on the back of the summary submission form. The obstacles that will be made available to the judges of the trial are Dog Walk, A-Frame, Teeter, Open Tunnel, Weave Poles, Non-Winged and Winged Single Hurdles, and Double Bar Hurdle. Dog Walk and A-Frame will be slat-less and rubber coated. Weave poles will be 24" spacing. Electronic timing may or may not be used. The Agility Arena is on grass. Agility Awards/Ribbons: 1st through 4th place, qualifying scores, HIT Standard Elite/Open/Novice, HIT Veteran Elite/Open/Novice, HIT Junior, HIT Overall. National Conformation Information Altered and Intact Conformation will be held indoors in Building 2. No grooming or crating will be allowed within the show arena. Class schedule will be posted. Updates will be posted on the Nationals website and/or the Show Office. Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class (BBX will be exception). Owners or agents are responsible for having their dogs at the ring when their classes are called to be judged. Neither the Host Club nor its Show Committee is responsible or obligated to furnish any service of notifying exhibitors of their class' judging. Dogs will enter the ring in catalog order unless otherwise posted. A maximum of 175 dogs/bitches will be judged by any one judge on any one day. The judge will designate which entrants will return for class placements. Generation/breeder's showcase Entries: The entrants can be altered and 2-6 month old puppies are eligible to be part of a group. A separate entry form must be filled out which lists the first dog in the group (the oldest generation). List the balance of the group, including their class entered at Nationals in order to participate. The first dog in the group (oldest) DOES NOT need to be entered in another class in the Nationals. This is a Non-Regular class. 1st-4th place will be awarded and it will NOT be divided by sex. Sweepstakes Information Puppy Sweepstakes is open to all Australian Shepherds that on November 2, 2012 will be 2 months of age and under 18 months of age. Indicate your sweepstakes class with the age division in the space provided for "Additional Class." Champions of record may be entered in Sweepstakes. The following classes will be provided for both dogs and bitches. 2-4 solid, 2-4 merle, 4-6 solid, 4-6 merle, 6-9, 9-12, 12-15, 15-18 Months. Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Australian Shepherds that on the November 2, 2012 will be 7 years of age or older. Indicate your Veteran Sweepstakes Class with the age division in the space provided for "Additional Class" on the entry form. The following classes will be provided for both dogs and bitches: Veteran 7 Yrs -9 Yrs, Veteran 10 Yrs -12 Yrs & Veteran 13 Years & up. Best in Veteran Sweepstakes & Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Veteran Sweepstakes will be chosen from among the winners of the above 6 classes. DIVISION OF ENTRY MONEY AS PRIZES 30% of total entry fees will be retained by the Club for expenses. The remaining 70% will be divided as follows for each sweepstakes: 15% to Best in Sweepstakes 10% to Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes 45% split among the classes as follows 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 4 or more entries 40% 30% 20% 10% 3 entries 50% 30% 20% 2 entries 60% 40% 1 entry 100% National Junior Showmanship Information Ownership rules must be followed to earn points. National Obedience Information Obedience will be held indoor on mats. The trial begins with Long sit/downs, then all classes will follow. All non-regular class group exercises will follow individual exercises. Bitches in season will compete, pursuant to ASCA Obedience Rule ง13. Individual exercises will run in catalog order. Should the number of entries warrant hiring an additional judge, this will be indicated in your confirmation packet. Conflicts: Notify ring steward of any conflicts before the start of the class. Awards/Ribbons: 1st through 4th place, qualifying scores, High in Trial, High Combined (Open B and Utility), High Score Veteran (from regular class), High Score Champion of Record, HIT Scoring Junior. National Rally Information Classes offered will be Novice, Advanced, Excellent and Masters A/B/C. Awards/Ribbons 1st -4th place, qualifying scores, High Score Dog, High Combined, High Score Jr. Rally Team will be an Excellent Course. All dogs are eligible for Team regardless of their titles. Enter Rally on the official ASCA Rally official entry form. National Stockdog Information Courses: 180 runs on Course A, using 5 head of cattle; 180 runs on Course B, using 5 head of ducks; 180 runs on Course B, using 5 head of sheep; all divided over 3 days. Policies: Entry is on a first-serve basis by postmark date; an official waiting list will be maintained. Run order will be determined prior to the trial by a random draw by the trial committee . Check posted run order daily for any changes. If an entry is pulled prior to the start of the first day of trial and that space can be filled from the official waiting list, a refund will be made. Substitutions will be allowed of another dog owned or co-owned by the same owner who originally entered the dog. Bitches in heat will run in order. Please notify entry clerk if moving up in division as soon as possible prior to the Nationals. In order for the trial to run smoothly, we need helpers. Please consider volunteering and fill out the coupon on the back of the summary submission form. Awards/Ribbons: 1st through 4th place, qualifying scores, HIT Cattle, HIT Ducks, HIT Sheep, Overall HIT, HC WTCH, HC Advanced, HC Open, HC Started, HIT Open Working Junior, and HIT Working Junior Handler. HC division will be the highest division entered for Nationals. National Tracking Information The Tracking Test will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 in agricultural fields and/or orchards near the fairgrounds.. The Tracking Test (TD) is limited to 8 entries and Tracking Test Excellent (TDX) is limited to 2 entries. If the TD or TDX entry limits are not reached, an additional 2 TD's may be substituted for each unused TDX, or an additional TDX may be substituted for every 2 unused TD's if property allows. Certification, or a copy of an equivalent title, (see Tracking Rules and Regulations) must accompany all TD entries. Bitches in season may participate, but will run last. They must be crated and away from other dogs prior to their track. Draw for available tracks and alternates will be made on Sept 24, 2012, at 6:30pm at the Selma Hospital Cafeteria during the CVASC meeting, and is open to the public. Grooming Areas Reserved & assigned 10x10 grooming space is available in the climate-controlled Building 3. Electrical outlets are available but must be shared. Outside dog washing areas will be available. All spaces must be kept clean. YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR DOG HAIR DAILY-both inside and outside. Dogs cannot be left overnight and must be removed by 10:00 PM. Reservations are $125 per space for the show. No per day reservations accepted. Any unreserved spaces will be available at the show on a first-come, first-serve basis at $175 per space. Contact Eileen Majarian at the show for an unreserved space. Group Reservations: THOSE WISHING TO BE ASSIGNED SPACES TOGETHER SHOULD HAVE 1 PERSON RESERVE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF SPACES NEEDED FOR THE GROUP. No refunds on cancellations received after September 15, 2012. Immediate cleanup of dog waste is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in your removal from the grounds without refund. Show Photographers Only the official win photographer will take official win and ringside photographer will be allowed photos. We have invited several photographers to come to the Nationals so competitors have the opportunity to obtain pictures of their dogs in action. If you win one of the placements which require an official photo, there will be a card with your prize that you must take to the official show photographer and have your picture taken. This is the only way we have to keep track of your win shots for the Aussie Times. We appreciate your help and cooperation. Any photographs (including candid ring shots) taken that are intended to be sold may only be by approved photography vendors. Lodging Information Check the 2012 Nationals website for a list of hotels. All of the hotels accept dogs. Hotel policies regarding dogs are subject to change. Please verify policy when making reservations. When making your reservation, you must call the hotel direct to special rates. Mention ASCA 2012 dog show. RV/Tent Information RV rates for the show circuit (8 nights), including 2 pump outs - is $350. The RV spaces are located throughout the entire show grounds. Every effort will be made to place you around or as close as possible to the venue you select. Please be sure and state on your RV Reservations which area you want to be parked, i.e., conformation, stock, agility. Entry will begin on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 12:00 PM. For RV arriving earlier, there will be day parking across the street in the parking lot from the Fairgrounds available. RV Parking will be from November 2 - 10, 2012. There are 30 amp hook ups and 50 amp hook ups. If you have a tow vehicle, you may need to park it in the parking area nearby. RV spaces will be assigned based on a suitable hook up for each RV and information provided on the RV form as well as the date it is received. Please be specific when filling out the RV/Tent form. There are multiple showers available through-out for use. We will try to accommodate those wishing to be assigned RV spaces together, but it cannot be guaranteed. If you want an immediate confirmation, you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. No refunds after September 15, 2012. You may sell your space, but you must notify the RV Chair for approval. Water may be shared. You are responsible for providing your own hose (50' minimum) and a "Y" connecter, if required. RV rates with electric and water are $45 per night (no pumps) Additional pump outs are $35.00 each if purchased separately Tent rates are $20 per night or $125.00 for the circuit (8 nights) w/o electricity. Contact show office for rate including electricity. There are some RV sites that have grass and gravel that will be available for tents. These sites are located throughout the grounds. RV's and tents using RV spots will be parked by ASCA 2012. You may have to wait in line to be parked. The fairgrounds have multiple areas for parking RVs, so every effort will be made to make sure everyone is accommodated and the parking runs smoothly. Site and check out instructions will be provided upon arrival. Upon checkout - if your space is not clean - you will be charged a clean-up fee.
